The rise of the house of Trump

The last blog post I weote over 4 years ago was in the aftermath of Trump losing power in the States, perhaps it is now time to begin again and what more apt a post than the return of Mr Trump.

No surprises

The last blog i wrote all those years ago ended with the sentence tha5 we have not seen the end of Mr Trump, it seems I was right. To be honest I was shocked that more people didn’t see that he would regain power. I ten to remember people being shocked the first time he came to power, it seems lessons were not learned, the one thing with President Trump is you underestimate him at your peril.

The failure of the Biden administration

The other thing I find interesting is the failure of the Biden administration to unite and move forward the American people, it became quite obvious during the run up to this election just how many people where unhappy with Biden and how they felt the administration had treated them. The gap between the right and the left grew wider and created a atmosphere for Trump and his supporters to thrive.

Very much like the UK at the moment inequality, immigration and fears over woke philosophy undermin8ng traditional values wrought large. This is something Trump was very well positioned to take advantage of.

Trump 2.0

Mr Trump himself is a interesting case, the economy will be pivotal to his success. Speaking often to my American friends the cost of living rise is something that weighs just as heavy the other Side of the Atlantic as it does in the UK. People are feeling the pinch and are looking for Trump for lower taxes and more money in their pockets. The other thing Trump needs to get a grip on is immigration, it will be interesting to see what he does but every indication is that he will go in harder than before.

Also of interest is what happens both to the criminal cases against Trump and perhaps more pertinent those who brought the charges. Will Trump be looking for revenge or will he row back on some of the treats he has made.

International relations will be under a spotlight as well. It is universally accepted that Trump will have a leading role in the Ukraine war and he will be keen to play the role of peacemaker.

Despite being keen to display a prominent and dominant role on the world stage he will no doubt take a more isolationist view at home with tariffs playing a prominent part. I expect threats around NATO will also amplify as the feeling Trump has that America diaprortionatly pays for NATO has festered and not gone away.

One thing that made Trump interesting last time out is that it is very difficult to guess what he will do next, for all the tough talk there is part of Trump that likes to be liked.

Many people have highlighted the difficulty for the UK especially as the Labour government does not have a good relationship with the Republican Party however I tend to think this won’t be the issue people think, Trump is a sucker for the royal family so throw in an audience with the king and I am sure the ‘special relationship’ will be on again.

The musk factor

I mean this guy couldn’t look more like a Bond villa if he was stroking a white cat, I am convinced he has a evil lair in a volcano somewhere. That is not to say he isn’t tremendously clever and insightful and backing President Trump has been a masterstroke which has benefited his companies and his wealth tremendously.

The big question going forward is will there be enough room in this administration for two mega ego’s , time I guess will tell but if the madness of the last administration Mr Trump ruled over is anything to go by there will be plenty of twists and turns.

The legacy

This is a older , maybe wiser Mr Tump who I am sure will have one eye on his legacy. Question marks over his health remain. Although he continues to surprise with his determination and resilience. One thing is for sure the next 4 years are not going to be boring.
